Train to be an Electrician
Job Security and Earnings as an Electrician
Most people want job security, especially in a downturn like now, and the building industry roles we train people for appear to be recession-proof for our trainees because deep into this downturn 100% of our fully qualifying trainees are still being placed in jobs and we expect this to continue. Since we opened in 2005 most of those only part-way through their training courses at Technical Certificate Level 3 have been placed too!
Job Placement
We have a dedicated Placement Team providing job placement assistance and has over 100 associated electrical, plumbing or construction companies registered at each of our Centres, where they aim to place our qualifying male and female trainees. You are of course free to start a job you find yourself or start your own electrical business at any time. Some trainees start working with qualified Electricians installing basic circuits under supervision after just 6 weeks training on qualifying at Technical Certificate Level 2.
Average earnings of £29,964 are predicted for Electricians next year by City & Guilds which is £576 a week with top earners getting as much as £41,727 or £802 a week. New Electricians will probably need some experience before achieving these figures especially if only partly qualified. Running a successful electrical business could, of course, produce even higher rewards and if the career progression route for Electricians is followed to become an Electronic or Electrical Engineer, top earners are predicted to earn £49,996 a year which is £961 a week!
On qualifying as a Electrician
You become a respected professional with a lifetime skill in long term demand with job security in an apparently recession-resistant industry, predicted earnings of around £30,000 to £41,700 with some experience and valuable qualifications recognised worldwide.
